WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College wrestling team fell to a physical No. 16 SUNY Brockport, 31-6, on Friday night, Dec. 9, in Empire Collegiate Wrestling Conference action at Lamade Gymnasium, as the Golden Eagles won nine of the 10 matches during the dual meet.
 
Senior Russ Korbul (Asbury, N.J./North Hunterdon) posted a win by default at 197 pounds for the Warriors (1-2 overall). SUNY Brockport improved to 1-0 overall.
 
Freshman Lucas Wisniewski (Conshohocken, Pa./Plymouth Whitemarsh) had a close match with Daniel Palmerino at 149 pounds, as he used a first-period takedown to take a 3-2 lead. However, a second-period takedown by Palmerino helped him take a 4-3 lead before Wisniewski escaped late in the period to tie the score. Wisniewski chose bottom in the third period, but was unable to escape, giving Palmerino the riding time point to take the match.
 
The Warriors posted two wins during the exhibition matches, as sophomore C.J. Conger (Egg Harbor Township, N.J./Absegami) posted a 7-1 decision at 133 pounds over Michael Leonard. At 165 pounds, sophomore Dan Bennett (Landisville, Pa./Hempfield) posted a 7-5 sudden-victory win over David Kellogg, as he completed a stunning comeback by getting a takedown with two seconds left in the third period to tie the match and then scoring a takedown in the overtime period to post the win.
 
The Warriors get back on the mat after the holiday break when they host the Pa./N.Y. Duals, facing SUNY Oswego and RIT during the event at Lamade Gym, which starts at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 7.
