Kylee Sutton (Wysox, Pa./Towanda Area) pulled down a game-high eight rebounds and sophomore
Victoria Kowalski (Mahopac, N.Y./Lakeland) added a career-high seven points, but a hard-pressing King’s (Pa.) was able to jump out to an early lead en route to a 67-31 non-conference win at Lamade Gym on Thursday, Dec. 8.
The Monarchs (7-2 overall) used an early press to build a 9-0 lead in the first 3:28 and continued to grow the lead as the Warriors (4-3 overall) struggled from the floor. A 3-pointer by Lindsay Atchison with 1:01 left in the half gave King’s a 33-11 lead before junior
Rachael Scheller (Sunbury, Pa./Shikellamy) hit a trey to cut the lead to 19 points at the break.
In the second half, the two teams played evenly for much of the period before King’s posted a 15-3 run to close out the game.
Kowalski posted seven points and four rebounds to go with a block and a steal and Scheller added seven points, two rebounds and a steal. Freshman
Janelle Ziminski (Drums, Pa./Hazleton Area) added a career-high five points and added two steals.

Celia Radar led the Monarchs with 16 points and Atchison added 10 points and four steals. Samantha Simcox, Ashley Davies and Cassie Erdmann each posted six rebounds and Paige Carlin and Jessica McHugh added three assists a piece.
The Warriors will have a quick turnaround, as they head to Susquehanna for a rivalry non-conference game on Saturday, Dec. 10, at 1 p.m.
