Warriors look to stay undefeated against high-flying Eagles

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Out to its best start since 2004, the Lycoming College men’s basketball team will look to stay undefeated when it hosts Juniata, out its best start in a decade, on Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Lamade Gymnasium. Junior Jerald Williams will look to make history in the game for Lycoming, as he needs one steal to break the school’s career record.

The Warriors (6-0 overall) are coming off a 68-66 win over Alvernia on Saturday, Dec. 3. Senior Mike Bradley led the Warriors with 19 points as Lycoming won the game thanks to canning nine 3-pointers, three coming from the 6-5 center. 

Juniata (6-1 overall) is coming off a 71-56 win over Susquehanna on Saturday, Dec. 3. The Eagles are led by senior guard Dan Sekulski, who averages 13.9 points per game.

Warrior Notes

• The Warriors have not gone 6-0 since the 2004 team opened the year 10-0.
• Lycoming has not lost at home to Juniata since a 90-84 loss to the Eagles on Feb. 20, 1993, when both teams were members of the MAC Northwest Division.

• Junior Jerald Williams is tied for the school record of 181 career steals with Geoff Boblick (1994-98). 

• Williams need 18 assists to become the second player in school history to dish out 400 helpers in a career.

• Junior Anthony Martin has scored in double figures in each of the last five games.

• Martin needs 25 points to reach 800 in his collegiate career. He scored 688 in two years at Orange County Community College.

• Through six games, the Warriors have posted an incredible +12.50 turnover margin.

• The six-game winning streak is the second-longest in head coach Guy Rancourt’s tenure. The 2009-10 team won nine in a row from Dec. 20 to Jan. 26.
