Warriors wrap up Las Vegas Hoopla against Benedictine

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -
The Lycoming College women’s basketball team will look to rebound from a four-point loss in the opening round of the Las Vegas Hoopla on Wednesday, Dec. 21, at 10 a.m. PT when it faces off with Benedictine University to wrap up its play at the tournament.

The Warriors (5-4 overall) were led by eight points from senior Chelsea Shearer in the 54-50 loss to Dubuque. Despite falling, Lycoming was outstanding on defense, holding the Spartans to a season-low 21.4 percent from the field.

Benedictine (2-8 overall) is coming off a 65-63 nailbiter against Muskingum. Senior Tracey Walsh led the Eagles with 17 points and sophomore Michelle Gaede added 15 points in the close loss.

Warrior Notes
• The Warriors are 3-2 all-time in the Pacific Time Zone and 2-1 in Las Vegas.

• Junior Rachael Scheller needs one assist to become the 15th player in school history to reach 150 in a career.

• Freshman Kat Andriani has at least five rebounds in each of the last three games.

• The Warriors’ six freshmen accounted for 23 of the teams’ 50 points against Dubuque.

• The Warriors have held opponents to less than 40 percent from the floor eight times and less than 30 percent twice this year.

• Lycoming scored 13 points on the fastbreak against Dubuque, nearly doubling their season total to 27 points.

• Senior Chelsea Shearer needs three more 3-pointers to become the 17th player in school history to can 50 in a career.

• Freshmen Janelle Ziminski (7) and Dejonia Reid (4) both set career highs in points against Dubuque.
