WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - The Lycoming College women’s basketball team will look for its third straight win this season and its fifth straight against Albright College when the two teams meet in the Commonwealth Conference season opener at the Bollman Center on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m.
The Warriors (2-2 overall) are coming off a 59-42 win over Penn State Altoona on Sunday, Nov. 27. Senior Chelsea Shearer led the squad with 18 points, while junior Rachael Scheller posted 13 points and swiped a career-high six steals and freshman Ali Derr added 12 points and eight rebounds.
The Lions (2-3 overall) are coming off a 69-56 loss at Centenary (N.J.) on Nov. 26. Freshman Jessica Venturelli has led the Lions early this year, averaging 11.0 points per game.
Warrior Notes
• The Warriors are looking for their first three-game winning streak since the 2008-09 squad won seven in a row.
• On Monday, Nov. 28, junior Rachael Scheller became the sixth Warrior to earn the Commonwealth Conference’s Player of the Week award since Lycoming joined the league in 2007-08.
• Scheller became the 21st player in school history to post 100 steals in a career with her final theft against Penn State Altoona.
• Senior Chelsea Shearer needs five 3-pointers to become the 17th player in school history to hit 50 in a career.
• Sophomore Julia Antonelli picked up a career-high 14 rebounds against Penn State Altoona.
• Lycoming’s 18 steals against Penn State Altoona are the most against a NCAA Division III opponent since the team picked up 20 steals against Wesley on Jan. 11, 2003.
• The Warriors have outshot their opponent in all four games this year.
