WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After posting its first win of the year against Misericordia on the road on Tuesday, Nov. 22, the Lycoming College women’s basketball team will open its home slate against Penn State Altoona on Sunday, Nov. 27 at 1 p.m.
Lycoming (1-2 overall) used a late rally to overcome Misericordia, 61-50, the 2011 Freedom Conference runners-up. Freshman Kylee Sutton broke a tie at 41 with a traditional 3-point play and then she got a steal that led to a layup by freshman Heather Cunningham, sparking a closing 21-9 run.
Penn State Altoona (2-2 overall) is coming off a 64-39 loss to Frostburg State on Tuesday, Nov. 22. The Lady Lions were led by freshman Alidia Strouse, who posted 11 points in the game. Junior Tiffany Seasoltz added seven points and nine rebounds.
Game Notes
• Four Warriors finished in double figures (junior Rachael Scheller, 17; freshman Kylee Sutton, 13; sophomore Julia Antonelli, 11; senior Chelsea Shearer, 11) at Misericordia for the first time since Jan. 4, 2011 against Marywood.
• Scheller became the 16th player in school history to can 50 3-pointers in a career with her second trey at Misericordia.
• Scheller needs six steals to become the 21st player in school history to post 100 in a career.
• Antonelli crossed 300 career points at Misericordia with her second of 11 points.
• Antonelli tied a career high with four steals at Misericordia.
• Senior Erin Connaghan needs to appear in one more game to become the 43rd player in school history to play in 75 in a career.
• Shearer needs nine 3-pointers to become the 17th player in school history to hit 50 in a career.
