Lycoming heads for Misericordia looking for first win of the year

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After squaring off with CSAC preseason favorite Gwynedd-Mercy and 2011 Landmark Conference runners-up Scranton during the opening weekend, the road will not get any easier for the Lycoming College women’s basketball team, as it heads to Misericordia to face the 2011 Freedom Conference runners-up on Tuesday, Nov. 22.

The Warriors (0-2 overall) are led by sophomore Julia Antonelli, who averaged 16.0 points and 10.5 rebounds during the opening weekend. Junior Rachael Scheller scored 17 points in the team’s game on Saturday against Scranton.

The Cougars (1-2 overall) are led by the defending Freedom Conference Player of the Week Christine Marks, who averaged 18.0 points and 10.3 rebounds in the team’s first three games.

• Junior Rachael Scheller needs two 3-pointers to become the 16th player in school history to can 50 in a career.

• Scheller leads the Commonwealth Conference with 4.0 steals per game, after posting four swipes against both Gwynedd-Mercy and Scranton.

• Sophomore Julia Antonelli and Scheller are each in the top 10 in the conference in points per game, with Antonelli tied for fifth at 16.0 and Scheller tied for 10th at 12.0.

• The Warrior freshmen are averaging a combined 9.5 points and 14.5 rebounds per game.

• Senior Erin Connaghan became the 50th player in school history to post 50 steals in a career with her first of two swipes against Scranton.
