Warriors fall to Moravian, Marymount at tri-match

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –
Sophomore Katelyn McKillop (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) posted a pair of double-doubles, but the Lycoming College volleyball team fell in a pair of matches on Saturday, Oct. 22 at Moravian College, falling to the Greyhounds, 3-1 (25-19, 25-22, 21-25, 25-19), and to Marymount (Va.), 3-1 (25-8, 25-18, 25-27, 25-21).
 
McKillop led the Warriors (13-16 overall), posting 41 assists and 12 digs against Moravian (19-11 overall) before notching 29 assists and 18 digs against Marymount (11-14 overall). During the matches, McKillop moved into the top 10 in school history in assists in a season, finishing the day ninth with 839 assists, just 22 away from passing Danielle Busch’s eighth-best mark of 861 set in 2005.
 
Junior Jackie Oliva (Barnesville, Pa./Mahanoy Area) posted 10 kills and two blocks to lead the Warriors against Moravian and freshman Amber Seibel (McDonald, Pa./South Fayette) added eight kills, 12 digs and two aces. Sophomore Lacey Sollenberger (New Enterprize, Pa./North Bedford) and freshman Sara Petokas (Tunkhannock, Pa./Tunkhannock Area) each added seven kills. Freshman Kristin Whitehead (Avon, Ohio/Avon) notched 20 digs and sophomore Kassidy Sedore (Stormville, Pa./Spackenkill) added 12.
 
Samantha Savite led the Greyhounds with 13 kills and Jesse Krasley posted 26 digs. Kelly Brown added 35 assists and 11 digs. Katie Moquete posted three blocks.
 
Against Marymount, Sollenberger led the team with 10 kills and added six digs and Oliva added eight kills, five digs and three blocks. Seibel notched six kills and 19 digs and sophomore Shelby Gear (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) added six kills and two blocks. Whitehead posted 15 digs and sophomore Cortney Tice (Canton, Pa./Canton) added seven digs.
 
Lycoming (3-3 Commonwealth Conference) will take on Albright (8-18 overall, 2-4 Commonwealth) for the right to the fourth and final playoff slot on Tuesday, Oct. 25, at 7 p.m. at Lamade Gym. The Warriors can reach their league’s playoffs for the first time since 2006, when the team won the Freedom Conference championship.
