WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College softball team suffered a pair of losses at the hands of Elizabethtown College on Saturday, April 17. The Lady Warriors were blanked 3-0 in the first game and fell in the second contest 11-3. Senior infielder Jess Nabholz tied the school record for career doubles at 24, doing so in the second game.
In the first game, Lycoming (10-22, 2-8) was held to just one hit as
Taylor Lesser drilled a grounder up second base. Four other Warriors reached the bases, with
Manda Peck getting on after an error by the first baseman and
Janelle Poorman and
Holly Lansberry reached on errors by the shortstop.
Allyson Marianelli got to first on a fielder’s choice.
Lansberry was the pitcher of record in the first contest, striking out six batters and let the defense work, getting six fly outs and nine groundouts.
Game two had the Lady Warriors score three runs, with
Amy Cline scoring in the first inning and
Nabholz and
Tierra Miller reaching home in the fourth and sixth innings, respectively. Nabholz scored after reaching second on her record-tying double.
The Lady Warriors head to La Plume, Pa. for a doubleheader against Keystone College on Wednesday, April 21. The first game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
