WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College softball team fell victim to solid pitching from Susquehanna University’s Cara Swerdlow, who tossed a perfect game in the first tilt of the doubleheader. The Lady Warriors lost both games, 5-0 in the first and 10-4 in the second.

Lycoming (8-20) got its bats on the ball in the first game, but solid defense behind Swerdlow held the Warriors off the bases. Lycoming grounded out 15 times and flew out on four other at-bats while Swerdlow only struck out two batters. Lycoming’s defense was paced by first baseman Courtney Black,  who registered five putouts while second baseman Taylor Lesser chipped in four and two assists. Freshman Holly Lansberry threw seven strikeouts and forced the Susquehanna batters into eight flyouts.

In game two, Lycoming plated four runs, including three in the first inning. Sophomore Manda Peck scored on a wild pitch while Amy Cline got around on a throw from the outfield. Lesser scored twice, once in the first inning and another in the third, taking advantage of a throwing error by the Crusader short stop.

Lycoming is at home for the second doubleheader in a three-game home stand on Thursday, April 15 when it hosts Juniata College. The first pitch is set for 3 p.m.
