ONEONTA, N.Y. –
Several injuries at key weights crippled the Lycoming College wrestling team, which dropped three matches at the Oneonta Quad match on Saturday, Feb. 6. The Warriors lost 21-12 to host SUNY-Oneonta, 27-13 to No. 17 Williams College and 19-15 to No. 25 Wesleyan College.
Senior 165-pounder
Chris Dahlheimer was the only Lycoming grappler to go 3-0 on the day, picking up bonus points in two of his matches. Against Oneonta, Dahlheimer scored a first period pin in 2:18. In his second match, he picked up a 12-0 major decision against Williams. In his final bout, Dahlheimer edged his opponent from Wesleyan with a 3-2 decision.
At 149-pounds, junior
Isaiah Britton earned a 3-2 win against Oneonta, but suffered his first loss since Nov. 19 against Ithaca, dropping the bout 6-4 against Williams’ No. 5 Corey Paulish.
Troy Hayre, a junior at 184-pounds, scored two victories, pinning his opponent from Williams in two minutes and picked up a 6-2 decision over Wesleyan. 197-pound sophomore
Russel Korbul went 2-0, earning a 7-0 win against Oneonta and a 7-4 decision against Wesleyan. In the heavyweight division,
Alex Bause split his matches 1-1, earned a 12-9 decision against Williams College.
Lycoming is back on the road for its next match against Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, N.J. on Wednesday, Feb. 10. The first weight is set to wrestle at 6 p.m.
Notes: Lycoming is now 12-8 overall … with just two matches left, Lycoming will finish above .500 for the 28th consecutive season … head coach Roger Crebs has never had a losing season with the Warriors
