ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. - In its final road game of the 2009-10 season, the Lycoming College women’s basketball team dropped an 86-54 decision to Elizabethtown College on Thursday, Feb. 18. Senior forward Rebecca Leid was the Lady Warriors’ leading scorer with 15.
The Blue Jay’s (7-16, 3-10) opened the game strong, going on a 28-12 run over the first 9:50, eventually taking a 51-29 lead into halftime. Lycoming was paced by
Kaitlyn Ober, who put up eight points and grabbed five rebounds. Leid also had five boards while putting up six points.
Jessica Zerbee tallied three assists and two steals.
In the second half, Lycoming (7-17, 4-9) had difficulty finding the bottom of the net, hitting just eight of its 35 field goal attempts.
Leid was the game’s leading scorer in the second half, putting up nine points. Ober chipped in six points and added another three rebounds. Zerbee registered two steals while
Meagan Pittius pulled down three rebounds, all on defense.
Leid finished the game as Lycoming’s top scorer with 15, going four of six from the field, and a perfect seven for seven at the free throw line. Ober tallied 14 points and tied for a game-high eight rebounds. Zerbee dished out three assists while also grabbing four steals.
Lycoming took 67 shots in the game, but connected on just 19 (28.4 percent). The Warriors outrebounded Elizabethtown by a narrow 42-41 margin. Twenty of Lycoming’s rebounds were on offense, allowing the Warriors to score 14 second chance points.
The Blue Jays were paced by Megan Strohman, who put up 20 points. She was followed by Kaity Snyder with 18 and Ali Jury’s 10. Jury grabbed eight rebounds, while also handing out seven assists. Courtney Kofeldt finished the game with six assists.
The Warriors conclude their season on Saturday, Feb. 20 when they host Widener University. Prior to the 1 p.m. tip-off, Lycoming will honor its senior class.
