Box Score 2 WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Kelly Rose (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Bishop Hoban) posted 23 kills and hit over .300 in each match to help the Lycoming College volleyball team split a pair of matches at the MAC Crossovers at Lamade Gymnasium on Saturday, as the Warriors downed King’s, 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, 25-17) in the opener before falling to Misericordia, 3-2 (25-20, 24-26, 25-17, 23-25, 11-15) in the nightcap.
Rose and freshman Tonya DeWalt (Mainesburg, Pa./Mansfield) led the charge for the Warriors (7-9 overall) against King’s (4-9 overall), as each posted eight kills, with Rose hitting .300 and DeWalt hitting a stellar .500.
Freshman Lacey Sollenberger (New Enterprize, Pa./North Bedford) added six kills and senior Megan Schulze (Reedville, Pa./Indian Valley) added five kills, four blocks and a team-high 13 digs. Rose also posted two blocks and freshman Katelyn McKillop (Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain West) added 26 assists, two aces and six digs. Senior McKenna Warren (Elmira, N.Y./CMS Elmira) added three aces and junior Emily Abel (Spring Grove, Pa./Spring Grove) posted 12 digs.
The Warriors hit a solid .275 in the match, adding eight blocks and eight aces to complete the team victory.
King’s was led by five kills from Emily Kline and four each from Heather Bowman and Colleen Grosenik. Kelly Greenway added 12 assists and Jillian Foster posted 14 digs. Bowman also had two aces.
The Warriors narrowly fell in the next match to Misericordia, actually outscoring the Cougars, 108-103, in the cumulative total, as it lost its three sets by a combined eight points while winning its two sets by 13 points. However, thanks to a .368 hitting percentage from the Cougars (7-3 overall) in the final set, they were able to take the five-set win.
Three Warriors finished in double-digits in kills, with Rose posting 15 kills, two digs and two blocks. Sollenberger added 10 kills, four digs and three blocks and DeWalt posted 10 kills, six blocks, two digs and an ace.
Schulze also added six kills, seven blocks and 13 digs and Abel posted 24 digs. Freshman Shelby Gear (Rochester, N.Y./Gates-Chili) added two kills, four aces and three blocks and McKillop posted 40 assists, seven digs and two blocks. Freshman Cortney Tice (Canton, Pa./Canton) added eight digs and three aces.
The Cougars were led by 11 kills and a .455 hitting percentage from Cailin McCullion, who also added 18 digs. Krystal Burford added 10 kills, two aces and two blocks and Kristin Hoffman posted 20 assists, five kills and three digs. Kat LaBrie posted six kills and Shannon Kane added nine digs and two aces. Alexandra Goble posted six kills and two blocks.
The Warriors get back into action on Tuesday when they face Lebanon Valley in Commonwealth Conference at 7 p.m. at Lamade Gym.
