Senior guard Eric Anthony surpassed 1,000 career points as the Lycoming College men’s basketball team defeated Alvernia University 83-73 on Saturday, Jan. 23.

Anthony entered the game just 12 points shy of the 1,000-point milestone. He finished the contest with 13, giving him 1,001 points during his three years at Lycoming.

Lycoming (15-2, 6-1 Commonwealth) extended its win streak to eight, while also improving to 8-0 on the road this season.

Freshman Johnathan Williams was the leading scorer for Lycoming in the first half, posting seven points in 11 minutes of play. Will Kelly pulled down five rebounds to go along with his six points in the first 20 minutes of play as Alvernia took a narrow 30-29 margin into the break.

In the second half, sophomore forward Mike Bradley hit nine-of-11 from the field, while putting up 20 points. Freshman Ihsaan Davis also reached double-figures in points in the second half with 10, doing a majority of his damage at the free throw line, where he hit seven attempts.

It was fitting that Anthony, one of the best free throw shooters in the conference, reached his 1,000th point at the free throw line down the stretch to help seal the win for Lycoming.

Bradley finished the game with 24 points. Kelly tallied a double-double with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Freshman Jerald Williams came up with nine assists while committing just one turnover.

As a team, Lycoming shot 46.3 (31-67) percent from the floor, including 18-of-30 (60.0 percent) in the second half. The Warriors forced Alvernia into 20 turnovers, while also coming up with 14 steals. Lycoming dominated the glass, outrebounding the Crusaders 46-33, including 14-8 in offensive rebounds.

Lycoming plays its final non-conference game of the year when it travels across town for a game with Penn College on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m
