Box Score 2 ERIE, Pa. --- After playing nine games in two matches, the Lycoming College volleyball team split its final day at the PSU-Behrend tournament on Saturday, Sept. 12 after falling 3-1 to Grove City College and downing D’youville 3-2.
The split moves Lycoming’s record to 2-5 overall on the season.
In the first match against Grove City, the Lady Warriors’ offense was a little slow to start until winning the third game 25-21. Senior Beth Machella (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Mechanicsburg) scored six kills in the match while sophomore libero Emily Abel picked up 17 digs.
Against D’youville, the Lady Warriors took the win in five sets, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 21-25, 15-9. Junior outside hitter Kelly Rose (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Bishop Hoban) knocked down 9 kills while playing in just two of the five games. Junior middle hitter Megan Schulze scored 13 kills to seal the victory.
The Lady Warriors are back on the court Monday, Sept. 14 when they host Mt. Aloysius College. Match time is set for 7 p.m.
