ALTOONA, Pa. — Sophomore Emi Wenger (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) hit .300 with 11 kills, her second straight 10-kill game to lead the Lycoming College women's volleyball team as it fell to Penn St.-Altoona 3-0 (17-25, 14-25, 21-25) on Thursday, Sept. 17, at Adler Arena.
 
Wenger added seven digs, sophomore Addison Morgan (Bethlehem, Pa./Northampton) finished with 23 assists, nine digs and two service aces and sophomore Lara DeFreitas (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) collected a team-high 12 digs and added an assist.
 
The Warriors matched Penn St.-Altoona through the middle of the opening set, getting three kills from Wenger and moving in front 10-7 on senior Angela Farnham's (La Plata, Md./McDonough) block. Penn St.-Altoona tied it at 13-13, then scored three straight points. Junior Elizabeth Mayer (Lafayette Hill, Pa./Plymouth-Whitemarsh) answered with consecutive kills to bring the Warriors within 16-15, but Penn St.-Altoona  took the set 25-17.
 
In the second set, Wenger recorded three kills for the Warriors, and sophomore Kamryn Skeith (Monroe, Wash./Sultan) added a late service ace before Penn St.-Altoona finished the set, 25-14.
 
The Warriors' key push in the third set came with Morgan at the service line, turning a two-point deficit into a 15-12 lead with two Morgan aces around kills by sophomore Charlene Petreshock (Warwick, N.Y./Warwick Valley) and Skeith. The Warriors stayed within 21-20 before the Lions closed the set 25-21.
 
The Warriors are 2-7 overall. Penn St.-Altoona is 5-4 overall.
 
Up next, the Warriors head to Albright College for a tri-match on Saturday, Sept. 19, facing Delaware Valley at 1 p.m., and Albright at 3 p.m., in Reading, Pa.
