Lycoming lacrosse extends streak over DeSales to 13

Shea ConwayCENTER VALLEY, Pa. --- Lycoming College’s men’s lacrosse continued to be undefeated in its match ups with DeSales, extending the streak to 13-0 in a 9-6 victory on Sunday, April 5. Ricky DeNenno continued to score goals, putting in four on the day.

Lycoming is now 7-4 on the season and 5-1 in the Middle Atlantic Conference. DeSales falls to 3-7 overall and 2-3.

DeNenno started the days scoring just 23 seconds into the game, on an assist from Ed Williams. The Bulldogs evened the score at 13:28. Nate Walter scored the first of his three goals at 10:26 after a cut to the cage and giving the assist to Brad Schaeffer. DeSales again even the score at with 6:10. DeNenno found the back of the net 30 seconds later to take a 3-2 lead and handing Walter an assist. The DeSales offense stepped up one last time in the first to end the quarter in a 3-3 knot.

Opening the second period, the Warriors tacked on three straight goals from DeNenno, Williams and Shea Conway, who was also credited with an assist on the Williams goal. DeSales notched a goal 6:25 remaining in the half to cut the lead 6-4. Walter ended the first half with a goal at 1:57, assisted by Conway.

Kevin PfisterThe second half saw just two goals from each team. The Bulldogs grabbed the first one, while DeNenno tallied his final goal of the day at 7:33 for an 8-5 Warrior advantage. Walter wrapped the game with the clock ticking down to just five seconds left in the third quarter.

On man-down, the Lycoming unit held DeSales to zero extra-man goals, on seven chances. Kyle Gilfoy made 14 saves on the day, including several key shots late in the game to pick up a Warrior victory, and was also the groundball leader, scooping up eight.

Lycoming returns home on Thursday, April 9 for another conference match-up against Misericordia with a 4 p.m. start time.
