WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- The Lycoming College softball team fell in a pair of games to non-conference opponent Misericordia University on Thursday, April 16. The Cougars took the series 5-2 and 8-1. Manda Peck reached the bases three out of the four times she stepped into the batter’s box.
The losses drop the Lady Warriors to 10-18 overall this season, while Misericordia improves to 16-10.
The Cougars were the first on the score board, with their lead-off batter scoring in the first inning. But behind the bat of Peck and Lauren Carey scoring, the Warriors tied the score at one in their first at bat. Lycoming jumped up on Misericordia in the fourth, with Rebecca Spencer plating the run on a set of sacrifice bunts by Kelly Prendergast and Courtney Black. But a four run fifth inning boosted the Cougars over the Warriors 5-2.
Misericordia’s bats continued to find the ball in game two, sparking another four run inning in the top of the third. In the second game, Peck went two for two, scoring the lone Warrior run, being driven in on a Spencer single.
The Lady Warriors return to the conference schedule this Saturday, April 18 when they host Elizabethtown College in a doubleheader set to start at 11 a.m.
