WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Rebecca Spencer gave Lycoming College a victory in the first game of a double header against Arcadia University on Saturday, March 28. A two run shot by Spencer in the bottom of the sixth inning boosted Lycoming over the Knights 4-3 in the first game, but the Warriors were unable to complete the sweep, falling 7-3 in the second game.
The split gives Lycoming a 6-12 overall record, and improves them to 2-4 in the Commonwealth conference, while Arcadia is now 13-3 overall and 1-3 in the league.
Finding themselves down 3-2 in their final round of at bats, the Lady Warriors rallied as Shauna Starr reached first on single that scooted past the second baseman. Two batters later, Spencer stepped up to the plate and smacked the two run homer to give Lycoming the victory. The other runs came from Manda Peck twice, who went 3-for-3 in the game and Marissa Hastings. Jessica Nabholz picked up the victory, forcing 11 fly outs.
Game two was another tight affair, going into an extra inning. The two squads found themselves tied at the end of regulation 2-2. But the Knight bats got hot in the extra frame, driving in five runs, while Lycoming was only able to convert one run in the seventh.
Lycoming will be back on the field on Sunday, March 29 when they host cross-town rival Penn College, with the first pitch at 1 p.m.
