WILKES-BARRE, Pa. --- The Lycoming College softball team fell in a pair of games to non-conference opponent King’s College on Wednesday, March 25. King’s won the first game 10-2 and the second game 8-0. Jessica Nabholz continued her solid pitching, forcing five ground outs and eight fly outs.
With the losses, Lycoming slips to 5-11 whiel King’s improves to 9-6.
Game one started with hot bats on the Monarchs side, scoring six first inning runs. The Lady Warriors did their scoring later in the game, as both Jessica Nabholz and Rebecca Spencer scored runs in the fourth inning. Nabholz reached on a double while Spencer got to first on a walk. Kelly Prendergast was responsible for the RBIs as she drove in an error charged to the second baseman.
The fourth inning was key for the Warriors, as they got three ladies on base, starting with Manda Peck, Lauren Carey and Shauna Starr all got hits while the field
players held King’s to zero runs. Pitching in game two, Starr picked up three fly outs and six ground outs in the 18 at bats for the Monarchs.
The Lady Warriors will be back on the field this weekend for a home game stand. On Saturday, March 28 Lycoming squares off against Commonwealth foe Arcadia University and again at home on Sunday, March 29 against cross-town rival Penn College. Both games are slated to start at 1 p.m.
