Women's basketball overpowers PSU-Hazleton 90-56

Erin ConnaghanWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Utilizing four scorers in double-figures, the Lycoming College women’s basketball team overpowered PSU-Hazleton 90-56 Monday, Feb. 9.

With the win, Lycoming improved to 14-6 overall on the year, while PSU-Hazleton slipped to 5-15

The Lady Warriors established their offense early, going on a 16-4 run in the first five minutes. Allison Mock continued her sharpshooting from outside, hitting an early three at 19:58. Alicia Engler was also hot from deep, knocking down a three at 17:47 to give Lycoming an 8-2 lead.

Andrea Cooper made efficient use of her minutes, playing in 15 the entire game, but scoring a team-high 17 points. A layup by Cooper gave Lycoming a 22-10 lead at 13:56. The Warriors maintained their double figure lead for the remainder of the game.Rebecca Leid

 

Lycoming took a 30-point 56-26 lead into the locker room at half time.

Renee Freeden scored a career-high 12 points and pull down four boards. Meagan Pittius scored 14 points and had two rebounds. Rebecca Spencer had a team-high five rebounds. Rebecca Leid had 11 points, while Jessica Zerbee handed out a game-high eight assists.

As a team, Lycoming took a tremendous amount of shots (78), with 16 of those coming from beyond the arc. The Warriors were able to out-rebound Hazleton 41-26,

Lycoming will be back in action Wednesday, Feb. 11 when it travels to Elizabethtown for a chance to keep the Warriors' playoff hopes alive. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m.
