WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- Using a 44-point second-half, the Lycoming College Warriors were able to overcome an early 10-point deficit on Saturday Feb. 7 as they took down conference foe Arcadia University 82-66.
With the win, Lycoming is now 11-9 overall and stay in the playoff mix at 4-4 in the Commonwealth Conference. Arcadia falls to 8-13 and 3-6.
The Warriors found themselves in a hole early; down 10 points at 15:23 when the Knights’ Blaise Pepitone hit a deep three to put Arcadia up 14-4. Throughout the rest of the first stanza, Lycoming slowly chipped away at the Arcadia lead.
The Warriors got to within two at 11:06 as Eric Anthony scored a layup to make the score 19-17 in favor of the Knights. But a small run boosted Arcadia back up by seven at 9:39 as Terrell Varnado hit a three ball, making the scoring 25-18. Again Lycoming would work away at the deficit, finally tying the game 25-25 as Greg Sye came down with the first of his seven rebounds and dished the ball to Will Kelly who laid the ball in.
Over the next two minutes, the game would flip-flop four more times, with neither team going up by more than two. Lycoming got the lead it needed at 3:11 as Anthony hit a three-pointer. For the rest of the game, Lycoming never relinquished the lead, taking a slim 38-37 advantage into half time.

With the narrow margin to start the second half, Lycoming needed a big play early, and got it from Sye, who grabbed an offense board and then scored the basket at 18:33, giving the Warriors a three point lead, 42-39. Another spark came from Jemayne Nowlin as he knocked down a three at 15:43, starting a run that got the Warriors up by as many as 13.
Lycoming got its biggest lead of the game when Anthony made a layup at 5:17, putting the Warriors up 19, 72-53. Lycoming maintained its double-digit lead for the rest of the half to bring home a conference victory.
Four different Lycoming players found themselves in double figures, with Sye leading the way with a quiet 19 points. Anthony went for 17, while Kelly and Sebastian Sabella scored 15 and 11, respectively.
Lycoming will be back in action Wednesday as it travels to face another conference opponent Elizabethtown for an 8 p.m. game start.
