Lady Warriors fall to Messiah 69-36

Andrea Cooper and ParentsWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. --- In her final game on the court in Lamade Gymnasium, Andrea Cooper finished as the leading scorer for Lycoming College with 13 points as the Lady Warriors basketball team fell to No. 8 Messiah College

69-36 on Tuesday, Feb. 17. Cooper also had a team-high nine rebounds.

With the loss, Lycoming slips to 15-8 overall and 4-7 in the Commonwealth Conference. Messiah is now 21-3 and 10-1 in the conference, and secured the top-seed for the Commonwealth tournament.

Cooper currently has 1,133 career points, setting her in the books in sixth all-time at Lycoming.

The Falcons' offense proved to be too strong for the Lady Warriors, with the Messiah players scoring in double-figures. Silalei Shani paced the game with 19 points, adding 13 rebounds. Angie Rapchinski scored 12 points while Ashley Brooks had 10 and eight rebounds.

Andrea CooperRebecca Leid of Lycoming added five rebounds and Jessica Zerbee contributed six points, going 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. As a team, Lycoming had trouble finding the bottom of the net, shooting 26.8 (15-56) percent from the field.

The Lady Warriors will be back in action Saturday, Feb. 21 when they head to Albright College for their final game of the 2008-09 season. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m.
