Warriors drop heartbreaker in final second

Greg SyeWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – T.J. Dekmar hit a three-pointer with 0.6 seconds remaining to lift Pitt-Bradford to a 72-71 win over Lycoming College on Saturday night, Jan. 3, at Lamade Gymnasium.

Dekmar’s shot came after Eric Anthony (Wheeling, W.V.) set up a Lycoming bucket by Greg Sye (Chantilly, Va.) with eight seconds left that gave the Warriors a 71-69 lead. Sye scored 23 points, including two free throws that broke a 67-67 tie with 1:00 left, before Sam Moore hit a pair at the line for Pitt-Bradford to force the game’s 11th tie and set up the finish.

Neither team led by more than one possession over the final 11 minutes of the game, when Anthony hit a jumper to make the score 51-48 and cut into a Pitt-Bradford lead that reached as many as seven points after halftime. The lead changed hands eight times after that point, with the Warriors holding the advantage for most of the final five minutes before Dekmar’s three-pointer dealt the decisive blow.

Sye was 7-of-12 from the field, 9-of-9 at the foul line and added seven rebounds for Lycoming, while Anthony had 14 points, four rebounds and four assists. Mike Bradley (Philadelphia, Pa.) contributed nine points and five rebounds off the bench.

Sam Moore and Joe Coppola both scored 14 points for Pitt-Bradford, which shot 53 percent from the field and 56 percent (10-of-18) from the three-point line.
