Grantham, Pa. --- The Lycoming Warriors men’s basketball team fell to a balanced Messiah offense in a Commonwealth Conference game by a score of 75-53. Warrior Will Kelly lead all scorers with 17but the balanced Messiah offense had four scorers in double digits.
With the loss, Lycoming falls to 9-8 overall on the year and 3-3 in the conference. Messiah improved to 5-13 and 3-3 in the league.
Lycoming was able to hold pace with Messiah early in the first period, with Kelly keeping the score to within three with a layup, bringing the score to 11-8. Shortly thereafter, the Falcons went on a 23-8 run to end the half and head to the locker room with a 34-17 lead.
Messiah continued to dominate play to start the second half, going up 21 when Tyler Storch scored a lay up to set the score at 43-21. The Warriors would slowly chip at the score, getting to within 17 after Eric Anthony knocked down a 3 pointer, closing the gap to 54-37. But another Falcon run would seal the victory, with Lycoming being down by as many as 23 late in the half.
Sophomore Kelly also lead all players in rebounds with six while Anthony dished out five assists. Senior Brandon Wilkinson and Anthony but put up nine points on the board.
The Warriors will be back in action this weekend when they host the Flying Dutchmen of Lebanon Valley College in a key conference match up. Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. following the women’s game.
