Grantham, Pa. --- The Lady Warriors fell in a conference match against the No. 11 ranked Messiah College Falcons Thursday evening by a score of 68-39.
With the loss, Lycoming falls to 11-5 overall and 2-4 in the Commonwealth. Messiah improves to 17-2 overall and is 6-0 in the league.
The Falcons’ defense proved to be too much for the Warriors to handle, keeping all players under double-digits. Senior Andrea Cooper and junior Alicia Engler paced Lycoming with seven points apiece. Engler was also the leading Warrior rebounder with five.
Messiah’s Julie Henninger led all scorers with 20 points, one of three Falcons in double figures. Messiah was able to capitalize on 25 Warrior turnovers to create 33 points, and played well on the offensive glass, picking up 21 offensive rebounds, and converting them into 25 points respectively.
Lycoming was able to convert 10-of-14 shots from the free throw line, going 71.4 percent while Messiah shot just 62.5 (5-of-8)
Lycoming looks to get back into the win column Saturday afternoon when it faces Lebanon Valley at home, tipping off at 1 p.m
