GETTYSBURG, Pa. – The #24 ranked Lycoming College wrestling team defeated Gettysburg, 29-12, on Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Gettysburg.
The Bullets opened the match with a decision at 125 before the Warriors claimed the next three matches to take a commanding lead.
At 133, Eric Grecco earned a 6-3 decision over Michael Slabinski to tie the score at 3-3.
Tom Barger registered the only fall of the match, pinning Jack Bostrom 1:44 into the first round of the 141 pound bout and putting the Warriors up 9-3.
Mick Maurer was awarded a forfeit at 149, increasing the Lycoming lead to 15-3.
Gettysburg picked up its second decision of the match at 157 to bring the score to 15-6, but John Mastrobuono picked up a 7-2 decision over Anthony Iorio at 165 to push the lead back up to 18-6.
The Bullets claimed decisions at 174 and 285, but Lycoming’s wins at 184 and 197 sealed the win.
At 184, Kyle Crouthamel earned a technical fall, 15-0, over Jon Paul 2:49 into the first period and Kasey Lyon was awarded a forfeit at 197.
The win improves the Warriors to 12-6 overall this season.
Lycoming will get some much-needed rest with its next match scheduled for Jan. 29, at home against Ithaca College. The first bout is scheduled 7 p.m. at Lamade Gymnasium.
