Warriors hang on for thrilling win at LVC

James OberliesANNVILLE, Pa. -- With the Warriors leading by one, James Oberlies stole the ball from Lebanon Valley's Anthony Trautman with under four seconds left and the Lycoming College men's basketball team held on for a 56-54 win in a Commonwealth Conference game at Lebanon Valley on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Lycoming opened the game with a 6-0 run and held a lead until there was 1:47 left in the first half, allowing the Dutchmen to take their first lead, 27-24, into the halftime intermission.

Lebanon Valley pushed its lead up to six points to start the second half, but the Warriors stormed back to regain the lead and push out to a six point edge, 53-47 with 2:31 to play. The resilient Dutchmen came back to within one, 55-54, and had possession with under 10 seconds to play when Oberlies' steal sealed the game.

Greg Sye led the Warriors with 16 points and six rebounds. Brandon Wilkinson added 11 points and Eric Anthony added six points and eight rebounds.

Lebanon Valley was led by Kyle Enoch's game-high 26 points.

The Warriors shot 39.3 percent from the field to Lebanon Valley's 29.4 percent and held a 38-36 rebounding advantage.

With the win, Lycoming improves to 8-5 overall and 2-1 in the Commonwealth Conference. LVC drops to 6-8 overall and 0-3 in league play.

The Warriors will travel to Arcadia on Saturday, Jan. 17, for a Commonwealth Conference game at 3 p.m.
