Warriors cruise to 78-56 win against Penn College

 

Eric AnthonyWILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The Lycoming College men’s basketball team cruised to a 78-56 win against cross-town rival Penn College on Tuesday, Nov. 25, at Lamade Gymnasium.

The Warriors (2-1) opened the game with a 19-2 run in the first nine minutes of the game before Penn College (3-3) clawed back to within seven, trailing 33-26 at halftime.

The Wildcats closed the gap to two at 41-39 with 16:05 left in the second half before Lycoming pulled away with a 30-5 run over the next nine minutes to take a 71-44 lead with just under seven minutes to play.

Eric Anthony (Wheeling, W.V.) led all scorers with a career-high 26 points in the game, including six 3-pointers. Greg Sye (Chantilly, Va.) recorded his first double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds and Sebastian Sabella (Bayside, N.Y.) added 16 points off the bench. Anthony Watson (Philadelphia, Pa.) handed out 10 assists in the game.

Leroy Joiner led Penn College with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Neil Baskerville finished with 11 points and eight rebounds. Craig Flint added 10 points.

Lycoming shot 46.9 percent from the floor, including a 60.7 shooting percentage in the second half. Penn College finished at 31.3 percent from the field. The Warriors scored a season-high 13 3-pointers, finishing the game 13-of-27 from behind the arc.

The Warriors will travel to the University of Rochester for a Thanksgiving tournament this weekend. They are scheduled to face Skidmore College on Saturday, Nov. 29, at 6 p.m. and Rochester on Sunday at 3 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN Radio via the Lycoming athletics Web site.
