ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Senior Loghan Shelley (Manheim, Pa. / Manheim Central) notched a goal and assist to lead the Lycoming College field hockey team to a 3-0 non-conference victory over Cedar Crest College on Saturday, Sept. 19 at the FalconPlex.
Lycoming (3-3) earned their first shutout win of the season, outshooting Cedar Crest (2-3), 21-7, in the contest.
Shelly was in the middle of the first Warrior goal less than five minutes into the contest, finding junior Lacy Eckard (Muncy, Pa. / Muncy) for Eckard's second tally of the season. Less than three minutes into the second period, sophomore Laurel Fite (Shermans Dale, Pa. / West Perry) pocketed an unassisted score, her fourth of the season, to put the Warriors ahead 2-0 going into halftime.
Shelly scored her second goal of the season off a pass from junior Riley Hackett (Hampstead, Md. / Hampstead) just over five minutes into the final period, providing the final margin.
Shelly finished with a goal and assist, Fite and Eckard each added a goal, and Hackett tallied an assist. Junior Hillary Clark (Wilmington, Del. / John Dickinson stopped all six shots she faced in her first career shutout.Â
Shelby Heater made 12 saves for Cedar Crest.
The Warriors finish off a stretch of five straight road games on Wednesday, Sept. 23 with a trip to Marywood University. The match will get underway at 4 p.m. from Scranton, Pa.Â
