WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — Junior Kayvan Shams (Williamsport, Pa. / South Williamsport) and senior Keegan Gill (Northumberland, Pa. / Meadowbrook Christian) both claimed singles victories for the Lycoming College men's tennis team, which fell in its Landmark Conference opener, 5-2, against Susquehanna University on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at Brandon Park.
In their first conference match of the season, Gill and sophomore Mason Morrow (Montoursville, Pa. / Montoursville Area) started the day with a 7-5 victory in No. 3 doubles.
In singles play, Shams fought from behind to win a first-set tiebreaker, then took control in his second set to win 7-6 (2), 6-3 in No. 2 singles. In No. 5 singles, Gill took a straight-set 6-4, 6-4 victory.
The Warriors will return to action on Saturday, Sept. 19, with a Landmark Conference match at Scranton. The match will get underway at 1 p.m.
