BROCKPORT, N.Y. — Three players scored for the Lycoming College field hockey team as it fell, 7-3, to the SUNY Brockport in non-conference action on Saturday, Sept. 12.
Lycoming (2-3) played even with Brockport (3-1) over the final three periods, but the Golden Eagles scored four goals in the first quarter.
The Warriors broke through when junior Lacy Eckard (Muncy, Pa. / Muncy) scored just over midway through the second, closing the gap to 5-1 at halftime on her first goal of the year.
First year Abie Niedermyer (Muncy, Pa. / Muncy) scored at the 7:34 mark in the third. In the fourth, senior Ava Daly (Camp Hill, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt) scored off a pass from sophomore Dana Stumpf (Holbrook, N.Y. / Sachem East) for the final tally of the afternoon.
Eckard extended her own school record with her 15th career goal, while Niedermyer notched her second score of the year and Daly found the back of the cage for the first time this year. Stumpf notched her first collegiate point with her assist. Junior Hillary Clark (Wilmington, Del. / John Dickinson) stopped seven shots in cage.
Elise Brady and Penelope Schalck each scored twice for Brockport. Lauren Mastromarco stopped four shots in the first half, while Julia Nieboer worked the second half and notched eight saves.
The Warriors will be back on action on Saturday, Sept. 19, when they travel to Cedar Crest. The match gets underway from Allentown, Pa. at 3 p.m.
