Fern repeats as Curry Coach of the Year award winner

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - After helping the Lycoming College women's soccer team to a school-record 17 wins, Kenny Fern repeated as the Robert Darrow Curry Coach of the Year, as announced by Director of Athletics Glenn Smith '07 during the Senior Athlete Celebration & Athletics Recognition Banquet on Wednesday night, May 6.

The Lycoming women's soccer team posted a 17-2-1 record during the 2026 season, finishing in second in Landmark Conference regular season for second year in a row (7-1-1). Along the way, Fern helped mentor four all-conference selections, two all-region selections for second year in a row and the team team earned NCAA and USC Regional Rankings for the third time in four years.

The Warriors also had 15 Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll Selections, six Academic All-District selections and four Chi Alpha Sigma Athletics Honor Society inductees.

On top of that, the team has 17 confirmed incoming players for the 2026 season.

When Fern became the head women's soccer coach in 2017, the team had never made the postseason in its first 20 seasons, and had only four winning seasons in its history. It took a little while – in 2018, the team suffered through a two-win season, but now the Warriors have posted six straight winning seasons and reached double-digit wins five times under Coach Fern, something that had happened only twice before he took over as the coach.

The Robert Darrow Curry Coach of the Year award was established in 2008 in memory of Robert (Robby) D. Curry '05, who was the son of Susan and Robert Curry '69 to honor a member of the Lycoming College coaching staff that has helped his/her team excel both on and off the field.
