WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — More than 71 minutes of game action was needed to decide it as the Lycoming College field hockey team erased a two-goal deficit at halftime to force overtime, but fell, 3-2, in the second overtime period to Moravian University in Landmark Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 10, at UPMC Field.
Moravian (5-7, 1-3) took the victory on a game-winning goal from Dani Lister at the 8:34 mark of the second extra frame to spoil Senior Day for Lycoming (3-8, 0-4), who honored Ava Daly (Camp Hill, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt), Carmen Hannon (Aldie, Va. / John Champe), and Loghan Shelly (Manheim, Pa. / Manheim Central) before the game.
The Greyhounds led 2-0 at halftime, but the Warriors pulled closer when Daly scored off a feed from first year Abie Niedermeyer (Muncy, Pa. / Muncy) near the midway point of the third quarter, then junior Laci Eckard (Muncy, Pa. / Muncy) pocketed the tying score in the middle of a scrum less than two minutes into the fourth.
Daly and Eckard scored for the Warriors, with Niedermyer adding an assist. Junior keeper Hillary Clark (Wilmington, Del. / John Dickinson) stopped 14 shots.
The Warriors will return to action on Tuesday, Oct. 13 with a Landmark Conference on the road at Goucher College. The match will begin at 7 p.m. in Baltimore, Md.
