Williamsport, Pa—After earning her second shutout victory of the season senior goalkeeper Riley Block (Hopatcong, N.J. /Morris Catholic) was named Landmark Conference Defensive Player of the Week on Monday, Sept. 29.
Block notched a career-high 12 saves on Saturday, Sept. 27 on the road against the Catholic University of America. In the Warriors' conference opener, Block stopped everything that came her way in a 1-0 victory that improved the Warriors to 10-0, their best start in program history.
In nine games this season, Block has earned two shutouts and stopped 30 of 39 shots in goal. The senior, who was second-team all-conference a season ago, is 25-4-6 with 11 shutouts in her standout career.
This is the fourth career weekly award for Block, who also earned Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades three times in 2024: Oct. 21, Oct. 28, and Nov. 4. This is also the fourth week in a row that a Warrior has earned a Landmark Conference award, after sophomore Ella Magee (Selinsgrove, Pa./Selinsgrove Area) took the Offensive Athlete of the Week award each of the past two weeks (Sept. 15 & 22) and junior Mikayla Long (Lewisburg, Pa./Lewisburg Area) won the same award on Sept. 8.
The Warriors will be back in action in their final non-conference match of the season, hitting the road to take on Elmira University on Wednesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
