Warriors pull away in middle periods, blank Lancaster Bible

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. — After a scoreless first quarter, the Lycoming College field hockey team scored three times in the second quarter and twice more in the third as they cruised to a 6-0 victory over Lancaster Bible College on Wednesday evening, Sept. 24 at UPMC Field.

Lycoming (5-2) has won three straight games, including back-to-back shutouts, with the win over Lancaster Bible (2-4) following up a 2-0 blanking of Cedar Crest on Saturday.

There was no scoring in the first quarter, but the Warriors broke through in the second, with junior Carmen Hannon (Aldie, Va. / John Champe) depositing her second goal in as many contests just under 22 minutes into the contest. Barely four minutes later, first-year Laurel Fite (Shermans Dale, Pa. / West Perry) also scored for a second game in a row and the third time this season, off an assist from senior Riley Marines (East Berlin, Pa. / Bermudian Springs). Finally, sophomore Lacy Eckard (Muncy, Pa. / Muncy) scored an impressive unassisted goal at the 28:41 mark, her third of the season, to give the Warriors a 3-0 lead into halftime.

Coming out of the break, senior Autumn Shahan (Wilmington, Del. / Wilmington Charter) scored her first goal of the season just two minutes into the third off an assist from Eckard. At the 41-minute mark, senior Katie Loughran (Ottsville, Pa. / Pennridge) pocketed her second goal of the year off an assist from junior Loghan Shelly (Manheim, Pa. / Manheim Central).

The final tally of the game came from senior Tayah Bauer (Duncannon, Pa. / Susquenita), who off an assist from Fite scored her team-leading fourth goal of the season.

Eckard and Fite each finished with a goal and assist apiece, while senior goalkeeper Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa. / Bermudian Springs) tallied her second straight shutout and the seventh of her career, having not allowed a goal in her last 129 minutes in cage.

The Warriors will begin Landmark Conference play at home against the Catholic University of America on Saturday, Sept. 27 at 1 p.m. at UPMC Field.
