WILKES-BARRE, Pa.—The Lycoming College field hockey team turned in their third shutout in a row and won their fourth game in a row, blanking Kings College (Pa.), 3-0, on Wednesday, Oct. 1, at McCarthy Stadium.
Lycoming (6-2) now owns its longest winning streak since re-launching their program in 2022, as it has won four in a row for just the third time in program history, holding Kings (1-9) off the scoreboard for all 60 minutes. The last time Lycoming won four in a row was to kickoff a 5-3-2 season in 1978.
Most of the first half was scoreless, but the Warriors broke through shortly before halftime, as senior Tayah Bauer (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) fired in her fifth goal of the season at the 28:53 mark, off an assist from sophomore Lacy Eckard (Muncy, Pa./Muncy).
On the other side of the halftime break, Eckard scored for the fourth time this year, finding the back of the cage for an unassisted goal at the 40:48 mark. Exactly three minutes later, first-year Laurel Fite (Shermans Dale, Pa./West Perry) also tallied her fourth goal, doing so in unassisted fashion as well.
In cage, senior Isabella Bobè (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) continued her dominant run, stopping all three shots in goal and earning her eighth career shutout. Bobè has also gone 189 minutes since allowing her last goal.
The Warriors will open Landmark Conference play on Saturday, Oct. 4 on the road at Drew University, with the match beginning at 1 p.m.
