Warriors down Allegheny, 4-2

MEADVILLE, Pa. – With two goals a piece in the second and fourth quarters, the Lycoming College field hockey team outpaced Allegheny College, 4-2, in non-conference action at the Blue Turf on Sunday afternoon, Sept. 14.

Senior Tayah Bauer (Duncannon, Pa./Susquenita) paced the team, scoring a goal and adding an assist for the Warriors (3-2 overall) and senior Isabella Bobé (York Springs, Pa./Bermudian Springs) posted 10 saves to earn the win.

Bauer assisted the first goal, as she got her own rebound off a shot from a corner and fired a shot to the right corner, where senior Katie Loughran (Ottsville, Pa./Pennridge) tipped the ball into the cage. Just three minutes later, sophomore Lacy Eckard (Muncy, Pa./Muncy) took a short pass from junior Loghan Shelly (Manheim, Pa./Manheim Central) and turned and fired into the left corner to give Lycoming a 2-0 lead.

Allegheny (2-4 overall) closed within a goal with 30 seconds left, but Bauer provided separation with 10:45 left, scoring off a give from sophomore Melanie Langford (Middletown, Pa./Middletown). A minute later, senior Riley Marines (East Berlin, Pa./Bermudian Springs) got inside the goal mouth and tipped a shot across the line. Allegheny's Mallory Furgal scored with 9:00 left, but that was as close as the Gators could get.

Both teams took 15 shots in the game, as Bobé moved within 31 saves of 500 in her career. Rowan O'Toole stopped seven for the Gators.

The Warriors are back in action on Saturday, Sept. 20, when they host Cedar Crest at 11 a.m., at UPMC Field.
