Â
Started in 2008 in memory of Robby Curry, the son of retired associate athletic director Robb Curry, the Robert Darrow Curry Coach of the Year Award is given each year to a head coach whose program achieves at the highest level in the department and meets his or her recruiting and roster goals for the year.
Â
When Fern became the head women's soccer coach in 2017, the team had never made the postseason in its first 20 seasons, and had only four winning seasons in its history. It took a little while – in 2018, the team suffered through a two-win season, but now the Warriors have posted five straight winning seasons and reached double-digit wins four times under Coach Fern, something that had happened only twice before he took over as the coach.
Â
This season was even more special. The team posted a school-record 15-3-3 record, finished a record-best second place in the conference regular season with a 6-1-2 record and it won its first postseason game in program history, 2-1 over Moravian in the Landmark Championship semifinal to advance to the first conference title game in program history. There were five all-conference selections and two all-region selections on the team, which earned NCAA and United Soccer Coaches Regional Rankings for the second time in three years. As impressive, the team had 22 Landmark Conference Academic Honor Roll Selections, six Academic All-District selections and five Chi Alpha Sigma Athletics Honor Society inductees. On top of that, the future continues to look bright for the program, as 10 players have confirmed their intention to play at Lycoming in the fall.
Â
The Robert J. Sinnott Award is presented to a student-athlete who has made a significant contribution to the success of their team, excelled in their academic studies, and exemplified the qualities of character, courage, leadership, and determination. All traits that exemplified the award's namesake Bob Sinnott, a member of Lycoming Athletics Hall of Fame. A two-time all-conference selection, Daub helped the Warriors reach back-to-back conference finals in 2023 and 2024. She hit .309 in her career, finishing third in program history with 128 career hits, fourth with 27 doubles, seventh with 164 total bases, and ninth with 60 RBI and 24 stolen bases. She also caught 33 baserunners stealing from behind the dish, where she played nearly every inning in a four-year career. A member of Chi Alpha Sigma Athletics Honor Society, the biology major was a two-time NFCA Scholar Athlete and a three-time member of a conference honor roll.
Â
The Sol "Woody" Wolf Award winner is given each year to the junior who has shown the most improvement in the intercollegiate competition in his/her first three years at the college. In soccer, Block has seen her goals-against average drop by nearly half a goal from her first-year to this year while developing into an all-conference keeper that helped the team to five shutouts and won 11 of the team's school-record 15 games this year. In lacrosse, Block jumped from 56 goals as a first-year to 73 goals this season, while also posting career highs in points, ground balls, caused turnovers and draw controls this season.
Â
The Most Outstanding Male Athlete Award is given to the student who has performed credibly in both the academic and athletic areas and has contributed of herself to the college. The NCAA Region 2 champion at 125 pounds and a NCAA Championship qualifier, Majcher was 33-6 this year with eight falls, eight tech falls and 10 major decisions. The 10th Lycoming College wrestler to reach 100 career wins, he is sixth in program history with 115 career wins, ninth with 36 falls, fourth with 24 technical falls and third with 25 major decisions. He was also ranked as high as 14th in the NWCA individual rankings and 11th by Open Mat.
Â
The Most Outstanding Female Athlete Award is given to the student who has performed credibly in both the academic and athletic areas and has contributed of herself to the college. A First Team All-Landmark Conference defender and a Academic All-District Team pick, Schafer was a team captain that helped the Warriors win a school-record 15 games, the first postseason game in school history and make an appearance in a conference championship game for the first time. She was a key part of defense that pitched school-record 11 shutouts and on top of that, she finished third on the team and sixth in the conference with five assists.
