MacCluen, DeLucas lead Warriors at Wilkes

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – Senior Danny DeLucas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) and sophomore Eric MacCluen (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) each had two hits to lead the Lycoming College baseball team, as it fell to first-place Wilkes University, 6-5, in Landmark Conference action at Bruggeworth Field on Wednesday night, April 9.
 
The Warriors (15-13 overall, 7-6 Landmark) took a two-run lead in the third inning, as junior Nick Hoheb (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) and junior Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) each walked before scoring on a two-out error.
 
After Wilkes (19-8 overall, 12-3 Landmark) scored a run in the bottom of the inning, the Warriors scored a run in the fourth, as junior A.J. Llorente (Williamsport, Pa./Montoursville Area) and Hoheb each doubled. In the fifth, Lycoming scored two more runs to make it 5-1, with DeLucas and sophomore Sean Perkins (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) each singling with one out before scoring on a groundout and a fielding error, respectively.
 
The Colonels scored twice in the sixth and three in the seventh to take the lead and Lycoming couldn't get the tying run closer than second base in the last two innings.
 
Junior Mason Drozal (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits, three walks and two earned runs. He struck out two in the start. Junior Joel Inman (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) (2-1) threw 1 1/3 innings, allowing two hits and and unearned run. He struck out one.
 
Tyler Uram (1-1) threw four innings of shutout relief in the win, allowing two hits and striking out seven. Zack Luksic and Jacob Cambria each had two hits and two runs for the Colonels.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, April 12, when they start a three-game set with the University of Scranton with a doubleheader at noon at Brandon Park.
