Warriors walk off with 20th win of season, 6-5

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Junior center fielder Zachary Pleska (Salem, Ohio/Columbiana) threw a perfect strike to junior Zach Kudlacik (Coatesville, Pa./Coatesville Area) at third base for the third out just before the runner tagging up at third scored to keep the game tied in the top of the 10th before Kudlacik doubled to lead off the 10th and set up a walk-off RBI from first-year Kaden Shay (South Williamsport, Pa./South Williamsport Area), giving the Lycoming College baseball team a 6-5 win over Marywood University at Brandon Park on Tuesday, April 22.

With the bases loaded and one out in the top of the inning, junior Joel Inman (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) (4-1) got a fly out to right center. Pleska got in position and launched a one hop throw to get the runner tagging from second just before the runner tagging from third scored.

Kudlacik doubled to lead off the Warriors' half of the inning. After a sac bunt and a walk by Coppock, Shay hit a sinking liner to left that hit the left fielder's glove before getting behind him, allowing the winning run to score.

After Marywood (12-15 overall) scored three runs in the top of the third inning, the Warriors (20-15 overall) responded to tie the game in the fourth. Junior Jack Kelly (Alexandria, Va./Alexandria City) walked with one out, took second on a groundout and scored on a single to right from Kudlacik. A walk and a hit batter loaded the bases for Shay, who smoked a single into right to score two runners.

The Pacers took a 5-3 lead in the seventh, but the Warriors responded with two in the bottom of the inning. First-year Jimmy Coppock (Collingdale, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) reached with a  bunt single before a pair of walks loaded the bases. Coppock scored on a rushed throw and Kelly executed a squeeze play to tie the game.

Shay was 2-for-3 with a run and three RBI to pace the team and Kudlacik was 2-for-4 with a double, a run and a RBI.

A.J. Kuzior went 3-for-4 with a double and three RBI and Adam Ginsberg was 2-for-5 with two runs and a RBI for Marywood. Ethan Reccek (0-1) pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing a hit and a run. He walked two and struck out one.

The Warriors get back in action on Wednesday, April 23, when they host Landmark Conference-leading and regionally-ranked Wilkes University at 4 p.m.
