WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. - Junior Luke Taylor (Williamsport, Pa. / Word of Life Bible Institute) led the Lycoming College men's tennis team with a singles win in a 6-1 setback in Landmark Conference action against Elizabethtown College on Saturday afternoon, April 12, during Senior Day at the Central PA Tennis Center.
Taylor brought in a point for the Warriors, winning his No. 6 singles match against Zachary Hinkel (6-2, 6-0). Taylor and senior Mohamed Ebeid (Cairo, Egypt / Egyptian British International School) also rallied in No. 3 doubles against Elizabethtown's Sam Langer and Kyler Henne, claiming a 6-4 win.
First-years Kayvan Shams (Williamsport, Pa. / South Williamsport) and Logan Hammond(Williamsport, Pa. / Loyalsock Township) also teamed in No. 2 doubles, falling in a tight 6-4 match, against Ryan Kraychik and Austin Kohler.
Shams competed against Kraychik in No. 4 singles — falling 6-4 in the first set, winning 6-3 in the second, and facing a 10-4 setback in the final set.
Lycoming fell to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in the Landmark Conference. Elizabethtown rose to 5-7 overall and 2-7 in the Landmark Conference.
The Warriors travel to Scranton, Pa., on Tuesday, April 15, for Landmark Conference action against the University of Scranton at 3:30 p.m.
