Warriors jump out in 8-2 win over Juniata

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Each of the top seven batters in the lineup had at least one hit and the Lycoming College baseball team scored seven runs in the first two innings to post an 8-2 win over Juniata College to keep a half-game lead on first place in the Landmark Conference on a sunny Tuesday, April 1, at Brandon Park.
 
Junior Sean Perkins (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) went 3-for-4 with a run and two RBI to pace the Warriors (15-9 overall, 7-2 Landmark). Junior Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) went 2-for-2 with two runs, a double and two walks and junior Brody Lindsey (Monrovia, Md./DeMatha Catholic) added two hits, two runs, his ninth homer of the year and two RBI.
 
Junior Landon Evans (Millville, Pa./Millville) (2-2) earned the win, tossing 5 1/3 innings, allowing three hits, two walks and two runs. He struck out three. Junior Jake Wilber (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South and junior Joel Inman (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) combined on 3 2/3 innings of shutout relief, allowing one hit a piece. Inman struck out the side in the ninth to cap the game.
 
Senior Danny DeLucas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) extended his hitting streak to a school-record 20 games, going 1-for-4 with a run and two RBI.
 
Reeder led off the first with a walk before DeLucas drilled his double to right center to bring in the first run. Lindsey scored DeLucas with a single to left with one out before Llorente doubled, setting up an RBI single from Perkins. A suicide squeeze scored Llorente with the fourth run of the inning.
 
In the second, Reeder led off with a double down the line, moving to third on an error and scoring on a sac fly from DeLucas. Lindsey homered to left center with two outs and Llorente reached on an error, scoring on a double to center from Perkins.
 
Juniata (7-15 overall, 2-8 Landmark) scored single runs in the third and the sixth to close within five runs, with Evans retiring seven Eagles in a row in between. In the bottom of the sixth, Perkins walked with two outs, stole sixth and scored the game's final run on a single to center from junior Nick Hoheb (Brick, N.J./Brick Township).
 
Aedan Hrivnak (0-2) pitched four innings, allowing eight hits and six earned runs. He walked three and struck out two for the Eagles. Jace Irvin was 2-for-4 with a RBI double.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Saturday, April 5, when they head to Elizabethtown College for a 12 p.m. Landmark Conference doubleheader.
