Hoover, Wilson combine for 12 in Lycoming’s 23-7 victory over Keuka

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- Senior Joey Hoover (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) led the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team with seven goals and senior Shayne Wilson (Smyrna, Del. / Smyrna) added five as Lycoming beat Keuka College, 23-7, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon, March 8, at UPMC Field.  
 
Senior Sean Farrell (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) also contributed four goals for the Warriors' (2-2 overall). Senior Andrew Ednie (Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem East) and first-year Cesar Carmona-Felipe (Oakland, Calif. / Oakland Tech) each added three assists. Hoover ended the game with four caused turnovers. Ednie also added two goals. Senior Ryan Farrell (Swedesboro, N.J. / Archmere Academy) and Hoover each claimed seven groundballs, senior Jakob Switzer (West Pittston, Pa. / Wycoming Area) added four groundballs and sophomore Brogan Wooley (Hampton, N.J./Morris Catholic) posted two goals and two assists. 
 
Hoover jumped out in the first quarter with a goal in the third minute, kickstarting Lycoming's 11 straight goals to start the game. Wilson added another goal in the fifth minute, followed by senior Ryan Farrell (Swedesboro, N.J. / Archmere Academy) in the sixth minute. Wilson returned in the eighth minute with his second goal of the period before Ednie posted his first goal 40 seconds later. Senior Brian Hulsey (Annapolis, Md. / Annapolis Area Christian) followed up 50 seconds later for his first goal of the season, and Sean Farrell posted three goals in a row. With a minute left in the quarter, Hoover and Wilson threw two more goals to the back of the cage, bringing the game to 11-0.
 
Keuka scored three goals to start the second period before Wilson darted down the field and secured the first Warriors' only goal in the period with 1:19 on the clock.
 
Keuka scored a goal in the first 30 seconds of the third period before Wilson pushed toward the cage and threw the ball to the back of the netting in the sixth minute. In the eighth minute, junior Cole Slezak (Butler, Pa. / Kiski Prep) and Ednie each added a goal to the board. Hoover followed with three goals in the ninth, 12th and 13th minutes, helping Lycoming end the period with a 12-point advantage, 18-6. 
 
Sean Farrell drove a goal into the cage for Lycoming in the fifth minute of the fourth quarter. Hoover and sophomore Brogan Wooley (Hampton, N.J. / Morris Catholic) each added two scores to end the scoring.
 
Senior Ben Franco (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) notched 11 saves as the Warriors' goalkeeper, and first-year Colton Ramey (Dunkirk, Md. / Southern) added two in the last quarter. Jaxson Tucker made 14 saves in the cage for Keuka (1-2 overall). 
 
Harrison Root led Keuka's efforts, contributing four goals, and he was followed by Mitchell Wise, Ryan Bewlay and Aiden Nice, each of whom scored one goal. 
 
The Warriors return to UPMC Field on Wednesday evening, March 12, to play against Alfred State at 5 p.m. in non-conference action.
