Warriors post 19-7 victory over Alfred State

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- Senior Sean Farrell (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) scored five goals and both sophomore Brogan Wooley (Hampton, N.J. / Morris Catholic) and senior Joey Hoover (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) added four to lead the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team in a 19-7 win against Alfred State in non-conference action on Wednesday, March 12, at UPMC Field.  

Farrell, who snagged seven ground balls, also led the Warriors (3-2 overall) with nine points, tacking on four assists. Wooley followed with three assists and four ground balls. Senior Andrew Ednie(Farmingville, N.Y. / Sachem East) added three goals and two assists. Senior Colin Manankil (White Hall, Md. / Hereford) captured 11 ground balls, and senior Jakob Switzer (West Pittston, Pa. / Wycoming Area) secured four ground balls and added two caused turnovers. 

Farrell kicked off Lycoming's scoring in the first quarter after he launched the ball into the back of the cage in the 40th second and followed up with another goal in the second minute. Hoover and Wooley followed up with goals in the third and eighth minutes, respectively. Farrell closed out Lycoming's first period scoring, scoring his third goal of the night in the 11th minute. Lycoming secured a four-point advantage at the end of the quarter, 5-1.

Ednie, Farrell and Switzer scored goals all within the second and third minutes of the second period, widening Lycoming's lead to seven. Wooley followed up in the fifth minute, adding another point. Senior Shayne Wilson (Smyrna, Del. / Smyrna) and Ednie both added goals in the seventh minute. Hoover and Wooley followed up in the eighth minute with back-to-back points as the Warriors ended the period ahead, 14-2. 

Wilson scored the Warriors' first goal of the third period. Farrell returned in the sixth minute for his fifth goal of the night, and he was followed up by Wooley and Hoover in the ninth and 11th minutes, respectively. Ednie closed out Lycoming's scoring with 32 seconds left in the quarter, helping the Warriors to 19 points.

Senior Ben Franco (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) saved seven shots in the cage for the Warriors. Matthew Burris served as the goalkeeper for Alfred State, saving 11 shots.   

Griffin Doan and Mike Wojcik each added two goals for the Pioneers, and Doan secured an assist. Ryan Snyder picked up five ground balls and Brendon O'Donnell followed with four. Jacob Steele also contributed three caused turnovers. 

The Warriors travel to Wilkes-Barre, Pa., on Wednesday, March 19, at 7 p.m., to play against King's (Pa.).
