WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – Senior Danny DeLucas (Whittier, Calif./La Serna) paced a hot Lycoming College baseball team offense with five hits, five runs and three RBI as it posted a doubleheader sweep of King's College, 15-3 and 7-3, in non-conference action to open Brandon Park for the 2025 season on Saturday afternoon, March 8.
 
Lycoming (3-5 overall) used a mix of 11 hits and nine walks en route to a 15-3 win in the first game of the doubleheader, putting crooked numbers on the board in four innings.
 
Junior Nick Reeder (Montoursville, Pa./Montoursville Area) went 3-for-4 with three runs, three doubles and a RBI and DeLucas went 3-for-5 with a double, two runs and three RBI to pace the offense. Sophomore Sean Perkins (Berlin, N.J./Eastern Regional) was 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI and junior Brody Lindsey (Monrovia, Md./DeMatha Catholic) was 2-for-3 with three runs, a homer and two RBI. Junior Nick Hoheb (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) also drove in three runs.
 
Junior Jake Wilber (Toms River, N.J./Toms River South) earned the win, tossing four innings and allowing two hits, a walk and a run. He struck out five.
 
After the Monarchs scored a run in the top of the first, the Warriors responded with four in the bottom of the inning, with DeLucas driving in Reeder with the first run before senior Jack Schilling (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) was hit by a pitch to bring in a run, setting up a two-out two-RBI single from Hoheb.
 
The Warriors tacked on three in the second, as Reeder and DeLucas both doubled before Perkins lifted a sac fly, setting up a two-run homer to left from Lindsey, making it 7-2. In the fourth, Perkins and Lindsey both singled and came around to score on a fielder's choice from sophomore Eric MacCluen (Downingtown, Pa./Bishop Shanahan).
 
The Monarchs (1-4 overall) closed within four with a run in the top of the sixth, but four walks, an error, a hit batter, a RBI double from Reeder and two-RBI single from DeLucas added up to six runs in the bottom of the inning to seal the first-game win.
 
Troy Neff had two of the Monarchs' four hits. Zach Day (0-1) took the loss for the Monarchs, tossing 1 1/3 innings, allowing six hits and seven runs. He walked one and struck out two.
 
In the second game, senior Zac Zaller (Scotch Plains, N.J./Scotch Plains-Fanwood) and sophomore Grayson Rinker (Jersey Shore, Pa./Montoursville Area) combined to allow seven hits and three runs while the offense jumped out with three runs in the first and never looked back in a 7-3 win.
 
Zaller pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing six hits and three runs. He walked one. Rinker tossed the last four outs for his second save, allowing one hit, one walk and striking out two.
 
DeLucas was 2-for-2 with two runs to pace the offense and junior A.J. Llorente (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport Area) added a two-run homer.
 
After King's scored in the top of the first, DeLucas singled with one out in the bottom of the inning, took second on a wild pitch and scored on a single down the line from Lindsey, setting up a two-run shot to left from Llorente.
 
The game stayed 3-1 until the fifth, as Zaller retired 11 of 13 batters in that run. Sophomore Tyler Iams (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) reached on a bunt single, stole second and stole third on a double steal with DeLucas, who reached on a one-out walk. Perkins lifted a sac fly to left and an error allowed DeLucas to score.
 
King's cut the lead to 5-3 in the sixth, but Rinker got a strikeout to end a threat with the tying run at the plate. In the bottom of the inning, junior Josh Bottger (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Wilkes-Barre Area) reached on a bunt single, moved to second on a walk, took third on a sac bunt and scored on a sac fly from Iams that also allowed first-year Jimmy Coppock (Collingdale, Pa./Cardinal O'Hara) to score on a throwing error.
 
Kevin Kullman led the Monarchs with two hits, a run and RBI. Dusty Shaver (0-1) pitched four innings, allowing six hits and three runs. He struck out three.
 
The Warriors get back on the field on Sunday, March 9, when they host King's College in a doubleheader to wrap up the four-game set at 12 p.m., facing off in a 7-9 doubleheader.
