Hoover leads Warriors against Penn College

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa.- Senior Joey Hoover (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) scored three goals for the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team as it dropped a 20-7 decision to Penn College in non-conference action on Wednesday evening, March 5, at UPMC Field.  

Hoover also snagged five ground balls. Senior Shayne Wilson (Smyrna, Del. / Smyrna) added three points with a goal and two assists. Senior Ryan Farrell (Swedesboro, N.J. / Archmere Academy) followed Hoover in ground balls, grabbing four for the Warriors (1-2 overall). 
 
Farrell jumped out to start Lycoming's scoring in the 56th second of the first quarter with a goal assisted by Wilson. Penn College followed with their first goal 20 seconds later, and Hoover answered with a man-up goal to reclaim a 2-1 lead. Although Penn College briefly claimed the advantage, Wilson drove down the field with 1:19 on the clock to tie the game at 3 to end the first period.

Penn College kicked off the second quarter with seven goals. With 2:46 on the clock, Hoover secured his second goal of the night after Farrell won the face off and pushed down the field. 

In the third period, Wilson threw the ball across the field to sophomore Brogan Wooley (Hampton, N.J. / Morris Catholic), who shot it to the back of the net. First-year Cesar Carmona-Felipe (Oakland, Calif. / Oakland Tech) followed up in the 12th minute with his first career goal. Hoover finished out Lycoming's scoring in the final period with a goal with 28 seconds remaining. 
 
Senior Ben Franco (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) made 17 saves as Lycoming's goalkeeper, as he crossed the 750-save mark, becoming the first Warrior keeper to reach the plateau. Ryan Twist made six saves and Alex Hammond added three in the cage for Penn College. 

Aidan McFalls contributed five goals for Penn College (3-2), and he was followed by Jake Small and Owen Kupsey, who had three goals each. Levi Borkowski picked up eight ground balls and Antonio Santora added five to help the team's efforts. 

The Warriors return to UPMC Field on Saturday, March 8, to play against Keuka College in non-conference action at 1 p.m.
