Franco posts school-record 32 saves at Elizabethtown

ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa.- Senior Ben Franco (Macungie, Pa. / Emmaus) saved a school-record 32 shots for the Lycoming College men's lacrosse team as it fell, 19-8, against defending Landmark Conference champion Elizabethtown College action on Saturday afternoon, March 29, at Wolf Field.

Franco bested his own mark of 28 saves set against Catholic a week ago in the game.  

Senior Sean Farrell (Allentown, Pa. / Allentown Central Catholic) and first-year Cesar Carmona-Felipe (Oakland, Calif. / Oakland Tech) led the Warriors (4-4 overall, 0-2 Landmark) with two goals. Senior Jakob Switzer (West Pittston, Pa. / Wycoming Area) also snagged four ground balls to help Lycoming's efforts. 

Senior Shayne Wilson (Smyrna, Del. / Smyrna) scored the Warriors' first goal in the second minute of the first quarter. In the first minute of the second quarter, first-year Ryder Gehris (Barto, Pa. / Boyertown Area) added another goal. With 5:49 left in the third period, Farrell followed with a goal. Farrell returned with 21 seconds on the clock to assist senior Joey Hoover (Selinsgrove, Pa. / Selinsgrove Area) in his first goal of the game.

Farrell and Carmona-Felipe scored back-to-back in the first and second minutes of the fourth quarter. Sophomore Brogan Wooley (Hampton, N.J. / Morris Catholic) followed up in the seventh minute to add a man-up goal to the board, which Hoover assisted. With 3:02 remaining, Carmona-Felipe closed out the scoring, pushing down the field to usher in the Warriors' eighth goal. 

Christian Schrader and Brayden Franey each made three saves for Elizabethtown (5-5 overall, 3-0 Landmark). Colin Johnson had four goals and two assists to lead the team's scoring efforts. Tristan Coleman and Lucca Scomillio each added three goals.

The Warriors return to UPMC Field on Wednesday, April 2, when they host the University of Scranton in Landmark Conference action at 4 p.m.
