TOWSON, Md. – Sophomore
Connor Shanahan (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) led a group of three Lycoming College men's basketball team players in double figures with 19 points as a hot-shooting effort helped it to a 73-64 Landmark Conference win over Goucher College on Saturday, Feb. 8, at the Decker Center.

Shanahan finished 6-of-14 from the field and 6-of-10 from the line to finish with 19 points while adding five rebounds for the Warriors (3-18 overall, 2-12 Landmark). Senior
Ivan Komitski (Sofia, Bulgaria/Lee Academy) added 15 points and seven rebounds and sophomore
Hayden Pardoe (Mill Hall, Pa./Central Mountain) notched a double-double with 12 points, 10 rebounds and two steals.

Isaiah Valentine (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area) added nine points, five steals and four rebounds, first-year
Princeton Layton (Katy, Texas/Katy Paetow) added seven points and two assists and first-year
Gyasi Miller (Philadelphia, Pa./Shipley School) added five points and a steal.

The Warriors shot 46 percent (25-of-54) from the floor and 50 percent (9-of-18) from the 3-point line while holding the Gophers (4-17 overall, 3-11 Landmark) to 36 percent (21-of-59) from the floor and 32 percent (7-of-22) from deep.

The Warriors led by nine with 1:40 left and were aided by a Goucher shot that died on the rim for an offensive deadball. The Gophers closed within seven twice and got within five with 35 seconds left at 69-64, but the Warriors scored the last four points, with Layton dropping in a fastbreak layup with 1.8 seconds left to seal the win.

Goucher opened the first half on a 9-2 run to cut the Warriors' lead to 40-32 with 16:08 left, but a 3-pointer from Valentine started a five-point run that got the lead back into double figures, expanding to 16 points off a layup from Layton with 10:54 left. Goucher finally cut the lead to nine at 64-55 with 3:07 left and closed within seven before a pair of free throws from Shanahan with 1:34 left.

The Warriors jumped out of the gate on a 20-4 run, as Shanahan scored the team's first five points and had seven during the run to match Komitski. Goucher scored the next nine points to cut within seven with 7:17 left in the half before a Layton jumper ended the run. After trading buckets for the next couple minutes, the Warriors got jumpstarted again off a 3-pointer from sophomore
Ethan Bomgardner (Mifflinburg, Pa./Mifflinburg Area), starting an 18-7 run capped by a steal and layup from Miller with 14 seconds left. A last-second 3-pointer helped the Gophers cut the lead to 38-23 at the break.

Brian Griffin notched 23 points to lead the Gophers and Darrell Green added 11 points and five rebounds.

The Warriors are back on the court on Wednesday, Feb. 12, when they head to Susquehanna University for a 7 p.m., Landmark Conference game.
