WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. -Â The Lycoming College women's swimming team ranked ninth in the Landmark Conference Pre-Championship Coaches' Poll ahead of its second appearance in the conference championship next week, the conference announced on Friday, Feb. 7.
The Warrior women ranked ninth with 16 points. Earning 78 points, Catholic University secured the top slot just ahead of Scranton (76), the defending champions. Drew (65), Susquehanna (57) and Elizabethtown (52) rounded out the top five placements. Juniata (42), Goucher (26), Wilkes (26), Lycoming (16) and Moravian (12) finished out the poll.
Sophomore Gwyn Fox (Altoona, Pa. / Altoona Area) enters the postseason ranked 45th out of 109 swimmers in the Landmark Conference in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 58.96. She also ranks 48th in the Landmark Conference in the 200-yard freestyle (2:11.50) and 50th in the 50-yard freestyle (27.06).
Junior Megan Lonergan (York, Pa. / York Suburban) ranks 20th in the Landmark Conference in the 1650-yard freestyle (21:45.56), 27th in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:31.81) and 37th in the 500-yard freestyle (5:56.03).
First-year Madison Robbins (Wellsboro, Pa. / Wellsboro Area) earned a 29th-place ranking in the Landmark Conference in the 1000-yard freestyle (12:59.96). She also ranks 30th in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:16.95.
The Landmark Conference Championships begins Thursday, Feb. 13, and runs through Sunday, Feb. 16, at Mangione Aquatic Center on Loyola University's campus in Baltimore, Md. The championship kicks off with diving preliminaries at 4:30 p.m., and the 200-yard medley relay and 800-yard freestyle relay events begin at 6 p.m.
Ticket prices on Thursday cost $10 for adults (18 and older) and $5 for minors (ages 10-17). The tickets for Friday through Sunday cost $25 for adults and $15 for minors. Children under nine years old, as well as Landmark Conference students and faculty with valid institutional IDs, receive free admission.
